School Drop Off, Pick up and the School Day

We have been working really hard using the Government guidelines and risk assessments to make sure we minimise risk as much as possible.

We are lucky to have three entrances to the school and lots of space on the school site, which allows us to operate a two-way system. Please give way where necessary and follow social distancing guidelines.

Please click here for a map of the school, classrooms, entrances and exits

Only one parent or carer may drop off and pick up at the classroom door please. The two Year 4 classes upstairs (Coelho & Wildsmith) will go straight up to their classrooms via the old Junior main door, which will be supervised by a member of the Staff Team. The class teacher will bring the two Year 4 classes down to the Junior playground at the end of the day by 3.15pm.

We will be operating a flexible drop off (from 8.30am – 9.00am) and pick up time (3pm – 3.30pm) so that families with more than one child can drop them off and pick them up at the time. We have suggested staggered start and finish times to help ease the flow of school traffic around the school. This will be reviewed as we go through the term. The register will not be taken until 9.15am, once the gates are closed and the class teacher will stay with the children in class until 3.30pm. After this, they will be taken to the main school office.

Drop Off: The school gates will be open from 8.30am (apart from those with a confirmed place at Breakfast Club). All children need to go straight into their classroom as soon as they arrive on site and parents/carers need to leave the school site promptly please. Please do not come on site before 8.30am or stay in the playground. Within the flexible half an hour drop off and pick up time we are giving each year group a suggested staggered start and finish time. If you arrive once the gates have been shut please use the buzzer at the gate and take your child to the main school office to mark them in late.

Pick Up: The school gates will be open from 3pm. Children need to be collected as soon as you enter the school site from their classroom door. The two upstairs Year 4 classes will be brought down to the main Junior playground by 3.15pm. Please do not come on site before 3pm unless your child needs to be picked up early from the main school office. Please leave the school site promptly. Within the flexible half an hour drop off and pick up time we are giving each year group a suggested staggered start and finish time.

Staggered drop off and pick up times: To try to reduce the amount of school traffic we are giving suggested drop off and pick up times. Please still drop off and pick up all your children as soon as you arrive on site regardless of the time you arrive. Please make sure you are following social distancing guidelines, keeping your distance between other families and adults.

If your child is in afternoon Nursery please do not come on-site before 12:15pm as the doors will not be opened early.

The School Day: Following the Department for Education guidance, each class will stay as one class group most of the time. When the children are at break or lunchtime, they will be with their Year Group in different zones of the playground and field. Break times and lunchtimes will be staggered. The children and adults will be washing their hands more frequently than usual. We will also be continuing with our enhanced cleaning routines and promoting respiratory hygiene ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’.

We are lucky to have two large dining areas where Harrison’s, our catering company, will still be serving hot food. Use of the dining room will be staggered and supervised by school staff.

Uniform: Children are required to wear school uniform as usual. They will also need a P.E kit and book bag and their own water bottle. Any non-essential items need to be kept at home at this time. If it is essential for your child to have a mobile phone they need to take this to their classroom and hand it in to the class staff.

Breakfast & after school club: TASC (Tolworth After School Club) will be running as usual if your child has a confirmed space given to you by Mrs Lobo. We will not be running any extra curricular clubs after school this term e.g football, chess, multi-skills, yoga. We are hoping to resume these during the Spring Term.

How can you help us:

  • Please make sure that your child is completely well before sending them in to school. Please DO NOT send your child to school if they are unwell and/or have a high temperature.
  • If you have been abroad during the school holidays, please check quarantine requirements before sending your child/ren back to school.
  • If you suspect any coronavirus symptoms in your household, the whole household needs to isolate while you get a test.
  • Please call the school office if your child is unwell or not attending school for any reason, as usual.
  • If your child has hay fever or any other medical condition but are not unwell, please let the class teacher know.
  • Please only come into the main school building or school office if you have an appointment, to hand in new medication or in an emergency.
  • Please pay for school lunches online (Year 3-6).
  • Please walk to school if you can and avoid public transport where possible.
  • Please ask your child to wash their hands as soon as they get home and change out of their school uniform.
  • Please leave the school site promptly at the start and end of the day and follow the social distancing measures that we have all become so used to.
  • Please name all your child’s uniform including P.E kit, coat, hat, scarf, gloves, water bottle and book bag.

The main symptoms of coronavirus from the NHS are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

To get a test please go to the link below or ring 119. New tests are released at 10am and 8pm.
